Support
Transforming Western is a collaborative community initiative to create a better tomorrow for the people, neighborhood and housing at Western Heights and in the Beaumont neighborhood of Knoxville, Tennessee. With more than 100 nonprofit and business partners working together on this effort, this is Knoxville’s first place-making initiative supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Choice Neighborhoods grant.
Western Heights has a rich history; and we are working hard to rebuild this community as a neighborhood of choice. Despite the tremendous support already secured, we need additional funds to make the aspirational dreams of the residents a reality. With robust philanthropic support, the neighborhood will include:
- 3-acre destination park
- Arts creation space
- Entrepreneurial hub – anchored by Real Good Kitchen and Junior Achievement of East Tennessee – focused on programming and food-based business training opportunities for the community
- Medical clinic
- Expanded Boys & Girls Club with new options for teens
